Award-Winning Comedian and Nationally Recognized
Mental Health Speaker Gab Bonesso to Visit NEPA

Pittsburgh’s award-winning standup comedian and nationally recognized public speaker Gab Bonesso will come to NEPA to lead “Humor Heals: NAMI’s Lifting Hearts and Opening Minds Tour” in May.

Thanks in part to a grant from the Humor Therapy Fund of the Scranton Area Foundation and support from Laugh to Live, LLC, NAMI Northeast Region will host events where laughter and humor will be shared for healing and better understanding of mental health.

 

Gab, who speaks openly about living with bipolar disorder in her standup comedy and her public speaking engagements, will share her story and her hilarious humor with the community at the following venues:

Thursday, May 4 at The Cooperage Project, 1030 Main St., Honesdale at 6:30-8 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Laugh to Live owner Jeannine Luby will briefly introduce the audience to the numerous wellness benefits of laughter activities and then pass the stage to Gab Bonesso who will talk about her mental health journey with extreme raw honesty. She feels no shame in her mental health diagnosis and hopes to spread awareness and kindness to those living with mental health disorder. Gab will answer questions from the audience.

Light refreshments will be served at the May 4 event.

On Friday afternoon, May 5, Gab will share her story with the clients and staff at The Scranton Counseling Center, 329 Cherry St., Scranton.  This special event is closed to the public.

The evening of May 5 at the SPACE at Olive, 541 Wyoming Ave., Scranton– Gab, who has featured for comedy veterans like Richard Lewis, Lizz Winstead, Tommy Chong, and Fortune Feimster will headline this comedy show fundraiser that will also feature comedians Micki Orlowsky, Mary Rapach, Paul Spratt and Jeannine Luby.

This is a 21 and over event. Tickets are $20

and benefit NAMI Northeast Region 

Light fare and drinks will be available for purchase and basket raffle tickets will be sold to benefit the Humor Therapy Fund of the Scranton Area Foundation.

Doors open at 7PM with an 8PM show start.

Prior to the show, interactive art for all ages, will be led by The Hexagon Project. Stop by to decorate a hexagon inspired by the theme of “Humor Heals: Lifting Hearts and Opening Minds,” that will be displayed later as part of a community installation to raise awareness around the important connection of physical and mental health.
